Sleep Paralysis

I hear them talk and whimper with glee,
There’s something in my bed sleeping next to me.
It rarely moves but when it does I feel its fingers on my head,
I can’t move out or away from the thing in my bed.

I’m asleep I think but everything is tinted violet,
I forcefully close my eyes and try with all my might to stay quiet.
When my slow gaze moves above my head, to the nightstand close,
I see a small girl with a white and yellow rose.

She looks at me as I stare in horror at her lack of a face,
I watch her swing her legs off the edge back and forth in even pace.
When I slumber, these beings move about my room,
And for some moments uncertain I feel as though I am facing doom.

Echos of whisperer’s calling my name rush at awful speed,
I think of what these knawing noises mean, perhaps it’s the hour demons feed.
To calm my mind before I rest I’ve tried to read a calming book,
Different medicines I took, Sage burning is just a hook, the only thing that works, just don’t look.

Don’t dare look at the sounds you hear,
There will always be something near.
From the depths of your most gruesome fear,

It will be there.
