The price of us
We don’t know what is wrong or right,
We struggle to suffice,
We glorify our ability to fight,
We are mean and nice,
We think all day and don’t sleep at night,
We make others rich at our own expense by bets placed on dirty dice,
We look down on the ones who can’t write,
We live in lava and in ice,
We turn our lakes, rivers, forests, parks, oceans into a sore sight,
We are pests to our host like lice,
We act entitled like divine knights,
We live based on bad advice,
We crowd cities until the air in our lungs feels tight,
We determine our worth based on the quality of our device,
We escape the reality we’ve created only to feel an even worse bite,
We demand everything to be concise,
We force ourselves to be polite,
We are constantly reminded to be precise,
We become desperate to unite,
We consume temporary happiness like mice,
We don’t ever say something when things aren’t alright,
We make the same mistakes more than twice,
We search for the place of infinite light,
We are apathetic to others in a moral vice,
We never find the place so bright,
We are ungrateful for those who paid the ultimate price,
We await the day we are faced with smite,
We listen to Death and are drawn into his comforting entice,
We give up eventually and allow his invite.
