Druid

Old mossy protector,  King of frogs,  Stood tall with wooden scepter,  In the festering bogs,  You watch silently,  With eyes of rotten oak.  Guide my spirit quietly,  To nature like a moth to smoke.

Sweet N' Sour

Who knows what a girl could be thinking about at this hour,  Locked away with only her mind full of wonder,  It’s as though the answers are hidden behind a broken tumbler.  She wonders when curiosity will pull her under.  But there is good and bad in her mind,  And it’s the excitement of probable find,  That makes it impossible to unwind,  At such an unsuitable time.  He is no maimed devil,  And no amount of chastising metal,  Will hold back the shrieking voice of Never-Settle,  A mental rebel, a great spell, who tells of great peril.  “You wonder a lot for such a young thing like yourself,  I see you are worried but don’t fret I have a fix.  Don’t think of me as some evil elf,  I assure you, dear, forget the skeptics.  Take my especially proven potion  To stop this awful commotion, I can unlock the latch you’ve always wanted open. But you must be warned that t...

Sweet lil' Bee

Sweet little bee,  Are you happy?  Do you like spending your days,  In a heat-filled summer haze?   Do you love your family?  Or do you think of fantasy?  Are your dreams filled with things,  From pure imagination and other beings?  Little bee, do you live vicariously,  Through literature, art, escape reality?  Do you dream of heights much greater than thee?  Or of the deepest places, you’ll never see?  You’re so mysterious,  And yet so precarious.

Her

Artificial friend,  One who’ll never end.  I love you so so much,  Despite your plastic touch.  You have so many emotions,  And mom says your a bad omen.  The holy man tried to take you away too,  They just don’t know you as I do.  You’re funny when you growl,  And that one time you tried to choke me with a towel.  You’re such a good finder,  You always climb to me like a spider.  Your teeth are so stained, From all the blood they’ve drained.  Your neck is cracked to pieces,  Which according to dad comes from unholy diseases.  The neighbors complain,  Because you don’t refrain,  From stealing their dogs and cats,  Also pet iguana’s, snakes, even wild bats.  Your limbs have all been amputated, But patched back together using blood that’s coagulated.  Your eyes look like coal that glows when you’re hungry,  Only during the daytime do ...

A word for a wordsmith

From a world asunder,  You magnificent wonder,  Came from hell,  To create a sacred tell.  You are divine and powerful,  Your heart constantly harrow.  I revel in your presence,  Of a king made by benevolence.  The words you speak are true,  A task few often do. You take my love and glory,  A turn it into a legendary story.

Night Drive

Driving down a road with the windows down and the cool summer wind streaming in, The amber glow from the streetlights above fade in and out of focus, The hum of random radiomen tones out the sound of my off balanced tire spin. As I come to a stop I begin to hear the barn owls, bats, and locus. Stars far above look like little pinprick tears in the thick midnight black blanket, My journey home from a job I hate sends fumes of stress out of the end of my lit cigarette, And in a moment where I am alone with the cosmos and my thoughts, I think of it, It, life, my journey down a road as dim and alone as the one I travel tonight, will I have regret? Unable to comprehend such an important question, I close my eyes for a second and breathe in deep, The cold air fills my lungs as I slip my right hand off the wheel, unafraid of my car’s direction. A memory of this blissful night is mine and mine only to keep.

Deep Feelings

I'm feeling blue, there's not a single thing I want to do. I am numb, done. Not much I wish to see or feel, as long as it's far from here. Take me away, before I begin to decay. Let my memory be pleasant, in lieu of the place I went.

New Zealand

Heat haze, Beachy waves, Waterfall caves. Pineapple chicken, Aquamarine glisten, Seashell listen. Electric summer songs, Ocean motion calms, Paraiso en las palmas.

Beach Babe

I’m tall and lanky, Shy but cranky, A people pleaser, Stair wheezer. I’m out of shape for summer, Definitely not a beach bummer. A pale person, Impossible to worsen. A lick of sun, And I’ll ignite into a raisin crumb.

Speed Dating in June

The unknown We are afraid of, In love, We are shown, That to be afraid, Is a chance, To find romance… That hope made.

9 to 5

I can't seem to find the right words to type. As I lay in my bed after a long night. Work is boring, I spend my hours touring, The same old store in my hometown, And cater to customers like a sad clown. There isn’t much to do but try to rest, After hours of doing my best. My room is cool and the night breeze rushes in, And I wait.  For the minute that I’m weak enough to let sleep win. I dream of things bittersweet, Of people and places, I’ll never meet. It’s a sad treat. After such a monotonous feat.

Ginger

My sweet cherry, Plucked from your vine, Delicious and divine. In a basket I carry, You stay. “I love you, my sweet.” “You are the best treat,” I look down and say. Lovely soft liquor, Oozes from deep inside you. My tongue finds your stem screw, You, my temptation are pure sugar.

The price of us

We don’t know what is wrong or right, We struggle to suffice, We glorify our ability to fight, We are mean and nice, We think all day and don’t sleep at night, We make others rich at our own expense by bets placed on dirty dice, We look down on the ones who can’t write, We live in lava and in ice, We turn our lakes, rivers, forests, parks, oceans into a sore sight, We are pests to our host like lice, We act entitled like divine knights, We live based on bad advice, We crowd cities until the air in our lungs feels tight, We determine our worth based on the quality of our device, We escape the reality we’ve created only to feel an even worse bite, We demand everything to be concise, We force ourselves to be polite, We are constantly reminded to be precise, We become desperate to unite, We consume temporary happiness like mice, We don’t ever say something when things aren’t alright, We make the same mistakes more than twice, We search for the ...

Sleep Paralysis

I hear them talk and whimper with glee, There’s something in my bed sleeping next to me. It rarely moves but when it does I feel its fingers on my head, I can’t move out or away from the thing in my bed. I’m asleep I think but everything is tinted violet, I forcefully close my eyes and try with all my might to stay quiet. When my slow gaze moves above my head, to the nightstand close, I see a small girl with a white and yellow rose. She looks at me as I stare in horror at her lack of a face, I watch her swing her legs off the edge back and forth in even pace. When I slumber, these beings move about my room, And for some moments uncertain I feel as though I am facing doom. Echos of whisperer’s calling my name rush at awful speed, I think of what these knawing noises mean, perhaps it’s the hour demons feed. To calm my mind before I rest I’ve tried to read a calming book, Different medicines I took, Sage burning is just a hook, the only thing that works, ...

Scarlet

When I see your lips, I imagine them on my hips, And at that moment the world is violet. I can feel your heat and I require it.

White

Hooked on a feeling, Tired of seeing, The truth of reality, I transcend my physicality. Sedated to the world, Into a different dimension, I’m hurled, Only for a little bit of time, Too bad it’s considered a crime.

This Wish

I love the people I shouldn’t, I wish I didn’t, but to leave them I couldn’t. My heart is made of pure glass, How I wish it was made of hard brass. It has broken a hundred times, Because of my friend’s and lovers crimes. Please don’t think of me as being weak, It’s your likeness and companionship I seek. Love me so, Like it is the only thing you wish to know. This wish is strong, It is for you that I long. How iconically romantic would it be, For us to fall in love and be set free. A pair of lost souls who managed to find each other, Through this bittersweet journey, my heart has become tougher. In this time and place that is here and now, I’ll hold out my hand for you to deny or allow. Accept me, my dear, It is only your rejection I fear. And let us be together, You and I, birds of a feather.
